If you’re like me, leading up to the new year you begin the search for your favourite, carefully selected, aesthetically pleasing calendar. I get a satisfying feeling seeing my whole month written out in beautiful coloured pens! I know without a doubt I get this from my mom, who always had a colour-coordinated calendar on the fridge when we were growing up.
For me though, it’s just as much about the art of the calendar as it is the organization! After all if you’re going to have something displayed on your wall, it may as well be beautiful on top of being functional!
It is frustrating to have to recycle them at the end of the year, it feels like such a waste to get rid of something that, aside from the dates on it, could still be useful and pretty! Hopefully you haven’t said goodbye to your old calendars yet, because here are some ideas to save that beauty!
This year I couldn’t part with my Rifle Paper Co. “Les Fleurs” wall calendar. I had some frames in my bathroom that had prints I was getting tired of, so I whipped out the hub’s exacto knife and cut out the art.
Doesn’t it look great?!
What I love is that there are so many other things you can do with your left over months of art. You could make postcards to send to loved ones, place setting cards for a nice dinner among friends, use the art for scrapbooking, the list goes on…
While we’re on the topic of finding a use for last years calendars, here are a few of my favorites for this year. Enjoy & happy planning!
